A few weeks back I needed to monitor a database on a Microsoft SQL Server. The Splunk app to capture this data was obvious: Splunk’s own Database Connect app. However, setting it up was not straight forward between the rough documentation, and my own unfamiliarity with Java on Linux hosts. To this end, I’ve published a short document on installing DBX on various versions of Splunk, Ubuntu, Centos, and OpenJDK. It is available on GitHub.
